Tradition or Shake It Up?
People are offering to bring food for Christmas dinner but they keep following it with the phrase “just like last year”. I don’t know about you, but “just like last year” bores me.
I understand people like to have traditions but I like to shake things up for Christmas dinner. I’d like to add things to Thanksgiving dinner too but people are reluctant to mess with Thanksgiving.
Growing up, we always had different dinners on Christmas. It was easier because there weren’t a lot of people for dinner. We’d have surf and turf with different things each year. We were flexible to having whatever sounded good at the time.
My in-laws are more into tradition and having the same things each year. They like everything the same right down to where things are placed on the table.
We had the best Christmas dinner a few years ago (before we visited the inlaws). We had ham, scrambled eggs and french toast plus some fruit. It was easy and so good.
I’m cooking up a few ideas how to shake things up. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
